Outreach Ministry
Acts 1:8
On July 12, 2010, a group of concerned Christians met at Carrolls Creek Baptist Church for the purpose of praying for lost souls, and furthering the Gospel of Jesus Christ. This was the first ever multilateral mission summit for the church, so the attendees were not sure what to expect. The Spirit of God moved in their midst, and a fresh wave of ideas poured into the room. This is a summary of what transpired that evening.
Increased Bible Study Class Involvement
Perhaps one of the most recurring themes of the evening was the need to involve Sunday School classes in outreach program. This plan is a work in progress, and will look something like this. Each class will have an outreach captain. The outreach captain (not the teacher) will give and receive information about outreach with the class. The outreach captains will then network with Ralph, so that the entire church stays aware of the immediate needs relating to outreach. If you would like to be the outreach captain of your class, or if you have helpful ideas, please contact
Ralph Cabaniss.
Database Management
As CCBC grows--which she will!--so will the outreach database. Quality management of this information is integral to a good outreach program. We welcome volunteers in this often overlooked area of outreach ministry.
After discussing the nature and availability of our prospect files, we have decided to use Google Docs as a tool for making our collected data more manageable. This data is made available to active members of our outreach team. To enter data, or view potential prospect information, please click the Google Docs link you have been provided.
Pictures Needed!
We thank Brenda Haynie for her consistent contribution of pictures, some of which are now on this website. Since Brenda cannot be everywhere at once, we also welcome your church moment photos for use in designs and publications. Please send only the best of the best, and include a caption of who, what, and when.
Mass Mailouts
In attempts to be more public with the name of our church and other ministries, we have decided to partner with
Details Direct in Birmingham to implement a mail-out ministry. Using Details Direct's
CONNECTFiRST outreach program, we will now be sending out the minimum of 50

greeting cards to new movers closest to our church. We are the first church in Northport to utilize this service. Each month Details Direct will send a card resembling the one pictured here. Also, they will send us their data so we can follow up on the prospective new families. If this endeavor yields a high amount of success, we can upgrade later to more prospects and more mail-outs (of different varieties).
Ad and Print Design
There are several projects on the table in the way of church publicity. We have decided to design and print church
business cards to give to our members as a handy outreach tool. We're also in constant need of fliers and brochures. Even a billboard is not too far off in the future. If you would like to volunteer to design or print outreach publications, please email Bro. Alan at
pastor@carrollscreek.org.
Rebirth of the "Whoo-Doo Card"
You may remember from ages past the "Whoo-Doo Card." Although the packaging is a bit dated, the concept is invaluable. The premise is "Who do you know..."
- that hasn't been to church in a while
- that is in need of an email, visit, or phone call
- that is new to the community
- that needs our ministry
Eric Goss has volunteered to devise a modern version of the card to distribute to Sunday School classes. Information gathered from these cards will be entered into the outreach database, and will be tended to with deliberate speed.
Needed: Van / Bus Minister
Among other things discussed, it was decided that the time has come to use our van and/or bus for the obvious purpose of bringing people to worship. This will be a rather involved volunteer position, as it is a ministry that must be built from the ground up and consistently managed. The person will be charged with the responsibility of making sure rides are available to those who need assistance getting here on Sunday morning, and eventually to other CCBC services and events.
Applicants must be at least 21 years of age. A CDL with passenger endorsement is a plus, but not required. This person will be expected to research and abide by all appropriate protocols and safety regulations in accordance to the state of Alabama. If God has put this desire in your heart, please email Bro. Alan at
pastor@carrollscreek.org.
Continuation of Old Ministries
The new face of outreach at CCBC has not abandoned the traditional methods of reaching out. We remain open most Monday nights at 6:30, and welcome volunteers in the following areas:
- Community Surveying
- Personal Evangelism
- Writing Emails, Cards, and Letters
- Visiting Shut-ins and Nursing Homes
- Fervent Prayer
